The Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRCongo) natural resources are extremely rich – its untapped mineral deposits are worth an estimated US$24 trillion. These include gold, diamonds, copper, zinc etc. and many strategic minerals such as tantalum, lithium and cobalt.
 
Another strategic mineral mined in the DRC is coltan – a name derived from “columbite-tantalite.” The Central African country is now the world’s largest producer of coltan.
 
Coltan plays a vital role in manufacturing and developing modern technological products. Tantalum is refined from the mineral to produce heat-resistant components in electronic devices like laptops, mobile phones, and other high-end gadgets.
 
Free DR Congo is a revolutionary movement that started in 2017 as a grassroots movement with over 345 civil society organizations to stop Joseph Kabila from running for 3rd term after his two constitutional mandates. 
 
We are that revolutionary movement that said no to the illegal cell phone tax known as “RAM” and won the lawsuit, and the tax ended in March 2022 to the great satisfaction of the DR Congo people.
 
Today we are members of the Congolese Alliance for the Re-foundation of the Nation, a platform of many political parties and civil society movements.
 
We are the first ever people’s trusted movement representing the poorest population of DR Congo, making the majority; we need help from well-hearted people because we cannot do this alone.

It is important to remember that we are all children of our Father in Heaven which makes us brothers and sisters, regardless of nationalities or borders. A contribution to this campaign is a contribution to fighting against the suffering of people who have been murdered and massacred for many decades because of bad governance. Prof. Justin B. Mudekereza is a national of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He fled his country in 2006 as a result of physical torture after elections. He is an icon known for his many efforts for social justice, human rights, and development in many African countries.
